Ovation Comics is proud to announce they have signed a distribution deal with Maverick Distribution, making their backlist titles and future publications available to retailers directly through Maverick.
“This is a significant step in the growth of Ovation Comics,” says publisher John Schlim Jr. “We recognize that comic book retailers have long been the lifeblood of the industry and we have certainly worked hard to get our publications in storefronts, but with limited success. There are so many small press comics publishers out there and it’s difficult for each one to individually appeal to a wide number of retailers. That represents a lot of vendor relationships for retailers to manage. And if one small press publisher provides poor service or inferior product, it often reflects negatively on all of them. Maverick represents an opportunity for select publishers to become part of a focused nationwide outreach to retailers with the promise of vetted products as well as reliable and professional service. We are thrilled to partner with them.”
Maverick Distribution is a new startup owned and operated by Encased Comics owner Jon Velez. With forward-thinking and customer service at the top of the mind, as a store owner, Jon knows the things that many other distribution services could be doing better. Maverick is poised to become a massive competitor in the distribution realm, and is launching with multiple publishers’ full catalogs.

Ovation Comics launched in 2016 with their first comic book and now publishes three ongoing series and numerous mini-series and one-shots in a wide variety of genres. A full slate of publications are in production for release in fall 2021 and throughout 2022.
